Some kind of crazy…

Jayme, a.k.a. oyukichan, is:
A sci-fi/fantasy nerd, gamer, mother, nit-picker & localization pro.

I speak French and Japanese, the former only a little, the latter quite a bit more. I have worked as a freelance translator (Japanese to English) for several years.

My interest in most everything Japanese was born through a father/daughter bond involving Godzilla reruns on KTXA 21 throughout the 80s. This spread to Akira and then Sailor Moon in the early 90s. In the decades since, I have studied Japanese, watched plenty of anime and samurai drama, worked for AnimEigo, FUNimation, and lived in Osaka.

FIRST GAME ADDICTION: The Lion King – stupid couldn’t beat Scar at the end…

FIRST CONSOLE: Sega Genesis (my parents had an Atari 2600 that I vaguely remember playing some kind of tank commando game on, but it died in the early 80s)

GREATEST MOMENT: Getting the Peggle “Be Cool” achievement before any of my friends. Finishing Overlord (Mass Effect 2 DLC) with my Vanguard on Insanity.

LONGEST SPREE: 24+ hours on Knights of the Old Republic after having to restart from scratch because my “neutral” Jedi did not have Force Push or Force Lightning to defeat Malak. That’s what I get for roleplaying a Consular.

OBSESSIONS: Mass Effect (like whoa), girly combat/paratrooper boots, kimono, menswear

I LOOK LIKE: Dirty Dancing era Jennifer Grey and Rashida Jones
